@kiwijrgroup & @shamebanduk were the two albums I was really looking forward to in January and both exceeded my expectations. @landeyolande album was my pleasant surprise of the month.

Here is a list of albums I haven’t seen mentioned a lot elsewhere on end of year lists but warrant your attention. Great year for Chicago as well. Deeper, Rookie, Melkbelly, Half Gringa, Dehd, Ratboys, Retirement Party, Ohmme and some others that I’m obviously forgetting.

Sadly HearYa met its end this year. Thank you to everyone who checked out our site or sessions over the years. This year has been a shit sandwich and music has been a big part of getting me through it. Like most, I loved albums from RTJ, Waxahatchee, Dogleg and Isbell.

Snap judgment on this @Bartees_Strange album. It’s like a more straight ahead TV on the Radio. He’s all over the place and it’s glorious. A few more listens and I’ll probably have a completely different take and that’s fucking brilliant. Kudos to all involved. This one is a gem.

This is a good review of a great album. In a year, where Chicago has had a number of great release, Half Gringa’s Force To Reckon stands among the best. Isabel Olive is a brilliant songwriter.

Gutted to hear the news on Justin Tonwes Earle. His music meant the world to me and he was an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Very few people owned a stage like JTE.
