Never, never, never leave children, disabled or elderly adults, or pets in parked, unattended vehicles! Studies have shown that the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rapidly rise to dangerous levels for people and pets. Leaving the windows slightly open does not significantly decrease the heating rate. It is going to get hot this week. 🥵 ☀️ Temperatures will soar 20 to 30°F above normal making it feel more like early June than mid-March for many. Dozens of daily high temperatures records are forecast to be broken or tied this week. 🔥Extreme heat warnings and heat advisories are already in place for many across California, Nevada and Arizona. 🌡️An expansive dome of unusually hot temperatures for mid-March will engulf much of the West for the upcoming work-week & persist into next weekend. Here are the latest Key Messages.

Many location across the lower 48 will experience quite the temperature whiplash over the next week. Daily record-tying/breaking highs will be possible for southern California and the Desert Southwest today and into the weekend before even more widespread record-breaking heat wave arrives next week. Meanwhile a cold snap is upcoming for those east of the Rockies, where temperatures will plunge upwards of 20 degrees below normal.

🌡️ Heat is forecast to increase across the Southwest on Thursday and Friday, with numerous daily and some monthly temperature records expected to be tied or broken. This early-season heat will be hazardous for anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.

Warmer conditions are coming for the West! Probabilities reach 90-100% across the Southwest. Temps may reach upper 80s over the CA Valley and triple digits over the Desert Southwest. This pattern may lead to early onset of high-elevation snowmelt.
