@GarciaCili1445 @RutgersAltRoute I agree. I want my classroom to feel safe. Where students can ask any question and their peers can help get them to the right answer. Learning is a process and we are all working together.

@RutgersAltRoute One of the challenges I experience and have seen in my classroom are when students are afraid of asking questions and are stuck with the mentality of “it’s not a smart question it’s a dumb question” simply because they don’t know the answer. #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset

@heim_steph @RutgersAltRoute Making mistakes is part of the learning process. I always tell my students this is why pencils have erasers. A person who never failed never tried something new.

@RutgersAltRoute Mindset is everything, and we need to teach children to be open to facing challenges and build persistence and a willingness to learn. Without it, children won’t know that making mistakes is okay and is how we learn most of the time. #GrowthMindset #TeacherEd

@heim_steph @RutgersAltRoute I agree. Students need to feel encouraged by us. It is never my goal to make a student feel as a failure. Just a "not yet" but we will get there together.

@RutgersAltRoute Feedback should be given in a meaningful way that enables the student to grow. For example, rather than positive and negative, frame it in a way that shows opportunities for growth and allow them to reflect and explore. #GrowthMindset #TeacherEd

Feedback is a compass for improvement and not all feedback is created equally. For Q4 share your content area and consider your best practices and those you would like to try #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset

@Kafkaesque83 @RutgersAltRoute I agree completely! It can feel monotonous reading through IEP & 504 documents, they're long and bland at times. The information, however, is vitally important and is there for a reason – it's meant to help you and the student be the best possible! #TeacherED #SpecialED

@RutgersAltRoute A1: One of the challenges I have faced in the classroom is the wide range of learning disabilities and needs among students. Each student requires unique accommodations and support strategies, making it challenging to address everyone's needs effectively. #TeacherEd #SpecialEd

A teacher that understands the needs of their students will adjust and change their style to meet the needs of their students. The teacher will have open conversations with the students, co workers, and parents. #teachered#diverselearners

@RutgersAltRoute A5 I am a fan of not only testing to be used as an assessment but also a student choice project. This way they can show their knowledge in a way that works best for them. They can make a video, a song, advertisement etc.#teachered#growthmindset

@RutgersAltRoute A4 I teach 8th grade science. When conducting experiments I always remind students that if your results no not back up your hypothesis your test was not a failure. You learned something else. Never stop questioning the world, conduct experiments and review the data. #teachered

@RutgersAltRoute A3 When introducing a new topic allow students feel comfortable in making mistakes. A teacher can make a safe environment to allow students to make mistakes and a student can learn and grow. It is ok to make mistakes and to fail. This is how we learn. #teachered#growthmindset

Framing, or how teachers introduce new concepts and tasks to students, is the focus of Q3. Framing can steer students to a fixed or growth mindset. It helps students feel free to be a work in progress as they learn. #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset

@RutgersAltRoute A2: Feedback feedback feedback! Provide feedback, allow your students to learn from their mistakes so they can better themselves. Allow them to correct questions they got wrong on their exams, give them class time to discuss what went wrong and how to improve.

@RutgersAltRoute A2 Teachers can encourage their students to meet their expectations. They can say I do not expect you to know everything now and this is difficult material but I know you can do it. We will work hard together and achieve it. #teachered #growthmindset

@RutgersAltRoute A1 the power of yet I can see would be difficult for some of my students who seem to always want instant feedback. I can see how it would be great.Students can be less focused on a grade and more focused on experience of learning.#teachered#growthmindset

@RutgersAltRoute A5 #TeacherEd I really feel that our school could benefit from a reset room or area. We currently do not have one but I feel it could make a major impact. Often the students are given a timer for a break. Then they simply roam the halls. A specific room or area would help.

Teachers play a role in helping students learn and practice self-awareness skills and communicate their understanding. For Q4 think about what you’ve done or ideas you’d like to implement to help students be self-advocates, agents of their own success #TeacherEd #SpecialEd
