"Don’t dim your light because someone else isn’t ready for you." #ForwardTogether
You often hear people say that we spend 80% of our time on 20% of our people, but sometimes you are in the 20%. People in your community might not be ready for your ideas, and that is okay! It is way better to find that out before you take a job than after.
I write about this in #ForwardTogether and share the following:
"You can’t fix every place, and sometimes, you just aren’t a good fit.
Many educators have shared with me reasons they’ve had for staying somewhere.
For example, 'But these students here need me!' I get it. And they do.
But so do other schools, communities, and organizations. If you lose yourself in giving to others who do not want to receive your gifts, there will be very little you can do for anyone else.
...Don’t dim your light because someone else isn’t ready for you.
Keep going.
And whatever you do, don’t become something you are not that doesn’t align with your belief system."
Keep shining!

@MsJonesMSW @AASAHQ @monmouth_soe @monmouthu @carlopedia @DrGeorge_MU Thank you, Nykeirah! Intentional design of the systems that serve our learners, no matter what age, is so important!

@HeatherDNJ @AASAHQ @monmouth_soe @monmouthu @carlopedia @DrGeorge_MU Such an important reminder that effective leadership communication is designed, not just delivered. Systems that elevate listening and lived experience create the conditions for trust and alignment over time.

Communication isn’t announced.
It’s experienced.

Yesterday I sent my dissertation defense date to my daughter.
A few minutes later she posted that she was proud of me for fulfilling a dream.
It made me think about lifelong learning and the quiet ways our children watch us grow.
A short reflection.

Eric, I really like how this visual captures the shift from optimizing systems to rethinking them entirely. In my qualitative study of superintendents’ engagement with generative AI, leaders described a similar transition, moving from improving existing processes to reimagining how leadership work gets done. Disruptive thinking starts with asking different questions. @monmouth_soe @DrGeorge_MU @carlopedia

Shifting from traditional (steady & linear) to disruptive (bold & iterative) thinking is how you rewrite the rules in 2026 and beyond. Don't just fix it....reinvent it amazon.com/dp/1734890894?… #disruptivethink #edchat #teachertwitter #edutwitter #educhat #edleadership #edadmin #suptchat

@E_Sheninger @_feedspot @anuj_feedspot Congrats Eric! Just read your March 8 article on self-efficacy. Powerful reminder that belief fuels action & also connects to your message in #Personalize about empowering educators and learners to take risks and grow. @DrGeorge_MU @carlopedia @monmouth_soe

Leadership learning doesn’t happen in one take.
It happens in the iteration. Outtakes from a Digital Leadership assignment in the EdD program. @DrGeorge_MU @carlopedia @monmouth_soe

Reading @E_Sheninger across Digital Leadership and Personalize (with @nickiatquest):
Transformation is systems work.
Digital change and personalized learning require coherence, alignment, and clarity.
Coherence does not happen accidentally. It is built through communication structures.
Communication is not messaging.
It is leadership infrastructure.

Looking forward to joining the conversation this week at the #NCE2026 Social Media Lounge as a panelist on crisis communication in a social-first world.
Crisis communication isn’t just about responding quickly. It’s about having systems, roles, and trust in place before the moment hits. @AASAHQ

This will stay with me. Thank you @E_Sheninger.
The image centering the learner captures the heart of this framework and reinforces personalization as a leadership and design responsibility.
It also highlights how strong communication systems and intentional feedback loops make this work possible in practice.

@E_Sheninger Read and appreciated, Eric. The way this framework frames personalization as a leadership and design challenge really resonated. The emphasis on reflection and refinement felt especially important as a cultural practice, not just an instructional move.

@HeatherDNJ Be in the lookout for my blog post in Sunday as I am it is the launch of a new personalized learning framework I have been working on #personalize
