Wonderful opportunity for my @UIEC_Tdsb SST colleague Natasha Gleeson and I to present the "Walking Together" workshop at today's STEAM conference @TDSB_Humewood today. The Ss were creative w/their animals!

Our gym has been transformed into a museum, giving students a hands-on look at powerful artifacts, and stories of Canadian Black history. So much meaningful learning happening right. It’s an inspiring day of discovery reflection and celebrating black excellence. @TDSB_IonviewPS

Last week I had the opportunity to visit @OakridgeJPS and see the amazing work done by Ms. Menezes' Ss: Integrating "The Water Walker" into developing numeracy strategies. Awesome!

Great day of learning as Mr. Dhanasar's Ss @CosburnMS allowed me to share "Walking Together"; learning "like braided sweet grass, we are stronger together", "two-eyed seeing" & reciprocity between all living things by building animals from natural loose parts. @UIEC_Tdsb

Exciting day in Ms. Mohammed's FDK class @ Highland Heights PS, reading "When We Are Kind"; learning who are our Elders, sharing how we can be kind to both others & ourselves, in sharing circle. @UIEC_Tdsb

"What makes you, YOU." is the framework for learning abt. one's Identity. The Ss @BalaAvenueTDSB have learned that hair (& it's length) can offer a lifetime of memories, like in the book "My Powerful Hair" by Anishinaabe/Métis author @CaroleLindstrom

Using music from Indigenous singers to inspire art; That's exactly what the Ss in @LindsayMutter & Ms. Asare-Williams classes @BalaAvenueTDSB did, creating portraits while listening to the 🎶"Remember Me" by Cree/Salish artist Fawn Wood.

During my visit to Highland Creek PS, it was great to see Ss & Ts showcasing how they are on the road to reconciliation. @UIEC_Tdsb

Kindergarten to grade 3 students create story quilts about themselves inspired by Faith Ringgold. Students shared a bit about themselves with pride to continue the importance of belonging in our school. 🩷 @tdsb @Frances_TDSB
