@MartinSLewis Surely you also need reports of when this message ISN'T heard? 100% of reports will be for these messages by definition; there's no way to know if they represent 100% of calls. (I support this survey, and have wondered the same thing about the word "unusually".)

New. Please report "sorry we are experiencing unusually high call volumes" messages. I want to test if some firms have this for EVERY call. If you call a bank, broadband, mobile, credit card, energy, water, sewerage firm, pls take 30s to report it via moneysavingexpert.com/report-high-ca… In some cases it may be a breach of the consumer duty.

@Kernow_King I think they might be these goblets from Asda. groceries.asda.com/product/cockta… Binged the series with my children - we were all hooked. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed a reality show as much as this (or watched one at all, to be fair). Phenomenal.

@LowdownCryptic As a pedant, I can't dispute the enumeration for a very well known version, but DW's is the only one I've ever heard that uses it - everyone else (before and after) seems to be 1,4,2,5,... (and would require eg KILT which breaks the super surface). Loved the clue though.

@BineRoy if anything it shows that Del TFH could have taken more artistic risks. You tried Pat; how about Geoff?

@rwhitehouse13 @Mr_Bingo It's just so much more comfortable and less restrictive. Also makes me feel solidarity with posties at this difficult time.

I've met 2 men recently who also wear shorts 365 days a year. We had an immediate bond. It's a brotherhood with a shared set of beliefs that bring us closely together. The nearest I get to religion. One day I'm going to organise a pub meet up for all year round short wearers.

@2bakerslane @PaulbernalUK "Where are you from?" might be a reasonable and polite piece of small talk. When the question is then answered, the follow-up "where are you REALLY from?" is the problem. (That's what the first poster on this thread mentioned, not the presumed first question.)

@PaulbernalUK If you take on an African persona and dress in a manner which suggests you are African, it is a perfectly reasonable question to ask where someone is from without any racial implication whatsoever. It is racist not to ask just because a person is black.

Lovely surprise to be reminded that I had in fact bought a ticket to a sold out gig which I had been searching online to find if anyone was selling any spares...

Does this work as a cryptic clue? Not sure of how to best censor a swear in a clue (outside of Viz / Private Eye). My hope is instead of seeming like unfair lack of info, it raises a chuckle working backwards from the answer. Reductions in spending made by heartless ****s (4)

@politwoops Hey guys, any chance of an update please? Five months of downtime feels like it's something more than a server move. Has the service been shut down? Maybe the outage is out of your hands, but the lack of communication is a bit disconcerting.

@heyze_o Often a task says "you have one attempt". If this task didn't, then the contestants could try as many times as they wanted. (See also: Nish and the basketball.) But they won't have done a whole task more than once, I think.

@Power2803 @Fox_Claire @MartinDaubney Those numbers (280 to 420) imply a 50% increase, not a 1% increase (although I'm not sure what the "0.014 of 1%" means, so that may be why I don't understand it).

@Fox_Claire @MartinDaubney Well said @Fox_Claire! The notion that a 0.014 of 1% increase in atmospheric concentration of CO2 over the last 100 years (280 ppm to 420 ppm) is causing 'catastrophic climate breakdown' is preposterous. Many scientists agree but are silenced and de-platformed. Disgraceful.

Mark Watson, still here but very much also Bluesky
RIGHT. It's time to take a census. I want to create an official mailing list for Impatient Online. If you are interested in future online festivals, or the future of The House, or NMJ streams and so on - please DM me your email address. I can follow you. There are things afoot.
Mark Watson, still here but very much also Bluesky@watsoncomedian

From tomorrow night. Six different shows, £5 for each pair. In your home. Like in lockdown. Because lockdown taught us that many people want or need streamed comedy and those people shouldn't be left behind (this is a subtweet). GET TICKETS NOW PLEASE!

@katief1978 @kyledevans Okay, I had missed that -- solving the base for 1 would also work (of course!). I just considered the exponent. I started wondering if the question was getting at the overlap being 5, and hadn't considered going the other way (ie three possibilities). Thanks. That is clever.
