These images are then reviewed remotely by an ophthalmologist to screen for conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and optic nerve abnormalities. The process does not remove the need for in-person care; rather, it allows us to triage patients earlier, monitor disease progression, and decide who requires urgent slit-lamp examination, intraocular pressure assessment, or surgical intervention.
