@MathRockSucked I miss D2 Y2. 3 raids in one year, black armory weapons, the first ever dungeon, man we had it good

@Dank_Wand @ihatethecap @WeebQx @PaulTassi Bungie is the one who canceled the last of us multi-player but also concord is probably the only instance in recent history of Sony dumping money into a flop. Even bad games like HZD made a shit ton of cash

@Heisendrip @ihatethecap @WeebQx @PaulTassi They absolutely are dumb, what are you talking about? Concord was a minimum of 400 million, Fairgames is till being worked on, the Last of Us live-service got cancelled (for some reason) they force single player studios to make live service games, they are dumb.

The reality is that now, more than ever, people should want Marathon to win. If it can thrive, it can expand in interesting ways, it can give Bungie runway and leeway with Sony for future projects. It's all upside if you want more Bungie games or even more Destiny. Marathon dying from here doesn't help anyone. Though that does not mean I'm going to just cheerlead if things don't turn around
Paul Tassi@PaulTassi

People are interpreting this as some sort of battle cry, but it's the reality that people are upset about Marathon taking away resources from D2, which it did, to launch and perform poorly anyway. This is not subjective, it's what happened. Marathon is certainly not *the* reason Destiny 2 is dissolving. Leadership, lack of foresight, post-TFS plans, layoffs are the main culprits, but it's disingenuous to pretend it's in some separate silo somewhere and isn't involved in this at all.

The best time to make Destiny 3 was after Final Shape, the second best time is now I'll never understand why Bungie waited this long, but glad they’re finally doing something

@CitizenGrayman @WeebQx @PaulTassi Rich people dont go to jail, the epstien files should have taught you that. But also you can't jail people for being selfish assholes unfortunately, regardless of how majorly they ruin people's lives. He didnt do anything illegal, but nonetheless ruined destiny

@CitizenGrayman @ihatethecap @WeebQx @PaulTassi Yes I do lmao. Im saying marathon only sped up D2's death. It was inevitable regardless and people (including myself) have been saying that since beyond light. Marathon just helped accelerate it

@ihatethecap @WeebQx @PaulTassi Marathon was in early development before Sony bought them. Also destiny could have gone back to a pvp heavy game, bungie just sucks at that nowadays

My question is, if Bungie decides to pick Destiny up again, where do they start the game off narratively? Do we pick up after Renegades? Or do we retcon the fate saga and make it not canon? Or maybe just Renegades becomes not canon?

@CitizenGrayman @WeebQx @PaulTassi Marathon was absolutely the wrong horse to back but regardless, destiny has been going downhill ever since bungie lost Activision. Pete Parsons completely ruined the studio and Destiny, Sony picked up the scraps hoping bungie would be able to thrive. They didn't

@CitizenGrayman @ihatethecap @WeebQx @PaulTassi They know that most destiny players dont care for marathon and they like the IP and world of destiny, not marathon. If monument of triumph does well, Sony will be much higher on Destiny and be much more likely to dump money into the IP. They're obviously waiting and rebuilding

@Heisendrip @WeebQx @PaulTassi No, Sony is just dumb as rocks. Sony still thinks marathon can be a successful game, which is very clearly not true. They have no clue what they’re doing.

@CitizenGrayman @WeebQx @PaulTassi Sony has stepped in. That's why they fired Pete Parsons and are laying off even more. They're either gonna rebuild bungie or give the IP to another studio

@Heisendrip @WeebQx @PaulTassi Good luck with that. Bungie sucks at road mapping and looking to the future. If they are going make one it wont be out for about a decade. Also they are talking about incubating games, That means they haven't even started development of it. Sony needs to step in at this point.

@ihatethecap @WeebQx @PaulTassi Sony would have shut bungie down already and wouldn't be accepting game pitches. They're very obviously trying to keep the IP but rebuild the studio since Bungie has proven themselves incapable of making consistently good content and decisions

@Heisendrip @WeebQx @PaulTassi It’s never happening. Marathon makes no money. It’s a flop and they bet everything on a game that was doomed to fail.

@ihatethecap @WeebQx @PaulTassi Yes I saw the article, just because nothing is in development yet doesn't mean it's never happening. Obviously Pete Parsons fucked bungie badly and Sony is planning a large restructuring, including replacing the incompetent devs. This shit takes time

@Starlightrainz @TodekIsKind @bryslizzy @manoklid @Alexbig47 Hi? I was right, theyre actively pitching destiny sequels, nothing greenlit yet. I said from the start it would be a long time before we see anything from them about d3, doesn't mean it's not coming. Sony wouldn't be taking pitches if they didnt plan on making it

Destiny 2@DestinyTheGame

Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.
