Nectar's promise is evolving...
After 21 days in Beta, 65 testers, feedback from peers, people in their journey to gain/lose/maintain weight or just eat healthy.
...and me dogfooding the app everyday.
① Started as a simple toy scan food get Macros.
② Became a meal planner.
③ Then positioned as "your companion for eating better."
Each iteration got closer to something real. Beta taught me tons about what actually matters vs what I thought mattered.
✅ What's working :
→ Personalized setup that people trust.
→ Clean "what to eat today" view.
→ Weekly planning structure.
→ Dead Simple design language.
🟠 What surprised me:
→ The gap between having features and having a product people actually use.
→ The companion promise sounds good but it's too abstract. People need something more concrete, more immediate.
After building in public and shipping daily, the feedback patterns are clear.
The current promise needs to evolve.
Not going to spoil what's next. But this journey from scan to plan to companion taught me that sometimes you need to ship to learn what you're actually building.
21 days of real usage beats 21 months of planning.
