@HelloBerlin3 Psh, yeah right! DGA concluded their investigation - on behalf of Hooper - and saw nothing but a greedy studio and half-hearted lies. Plus, Mick Garris said he facilitated the reconciliation, nice guy he is.

I am a huge Spielberg nerd, and also a Tobe Hooper fan (especially Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2). So, knowing both styles in and out, I say this with full conviction and authority: Spielberg directed Poltergeist.

@Poltrg_Thoughts For sure- but with Spielberg producing again it may have been an elaborate plan to make sure the DGA wouldn’t go back and investigate Poltergeist’s production.

@Poltrg_Thoughts I’m a big Hooper fan- but you don’t see the level of talent one sees in Poltergeist in any other of his films. Even TCM

@HelloBerlin3 Hooper was always beset by his wild and ambitious approach to filmmaking. When he has a good producer, it bodes well for him. Check out his episode of Spielberg’s show AMAZING STORIES. Solid competency. A second Poltergeist.

@Poltrg_Thoughts It may have been because Spielberg was on set and the producer and most likely final cut, but I haven’t seen a Hooper movie that was made as competently as Poltergeist had been.

@Poltrg_Thoughts Yeah- I think he probably meant the way each director shoots a film. You can identify a Spielberg movie pretty easily from the lenses, camera movement, blocking and lighting- Hooper couldn’t duplicate those. I still haven’t seen a movie his name on it that’s shot better.
