Audio books are great for reluctant or struggling readers. Plug in the tech and let them read along. This helps with all those tricky words.

Find out what they want to read - and it's ok if this is exclusively football stats or stories about unicorns!🦄 As long as it gives them the bug for reading for pleasure, it could be just the start they need.

Make it a Habit - But Not a Chore Carve out some time in the day that is just for reading. Keep it quiet, relaxed and fun. When mustering enthusiasm for reading is hard work, make it a little more exciting by creating a reading 'den'.

How do you encourage kids to read for pleasure? It might not seem like an important thing in this day and age, but research would suggest that reading for the joy of it sets children up for better personal development, wider general knowledge, and improved mental health.
