amber.ac GTC 2026 recap Beyond the keynotes and the expo floor, amber.ac hosted a lunch that brought together a different kind of conversation. VCs deep in AI hardware & manufacturing infrastructure. Founders pushing the edge in social, pets, healthcare, drug discovery, AI hardware. Pitches happened over plates. The best part? Everyone in that room was genuinely at the frontier, you could feel it in the energy. Grateful for everyone who joined. San Jose delivered.

Data Center is dead, bring in token factory. Just came back from #GTC2026, and the shift is fundamental: we are moving past the "Training Era" into the "Inference Economy." Here are the 5 core shifts we’re seeing: 1️⃣ From Data Centers to Token Factories Jensen Huang has redefined the stack: Energy → Chips → Infra → Models → Apps. In this 5-layer cake, the new North Star metric is Tokens per Watt. AI is no longer about storing data; it’s the industrial production of intelligence. A 1GW factory’s revenue is now directly tied to its inference throughput. Efficiency = Revenue. 2️⃣ Inference Eaten the World NVIDIA’s Bill Dally confirmed: Inference now accounts for ~90% of data center power. We’ve moved past the "scale by feeding more data" phase. Now, speed is the bottleneck. Not just for human reading, but for Agent-to-Agent communication. If 100 Agents are collaborating, latency is the ultimate killer of ROI. 3️⃣ SaaS → AaaS (Agent as a Service) The consensus is… 80% of traditional apps are at risk. We are moving from tools we use to AI employees we manage. The new frontier isn't "Prompt Engineering”, but Harness Engineering. Orchestrating the "system around the model" (memory, tools, sub-agents) is what turns a "wrapper" into an Operating System. 4️⃣ Physical AI Countdown The "ChatGPT moment" for robotics is 1–3 years away. While fixed-scene success is near 100%, the challenge is generalization: handling 80% of tasks in 80% of unknown environments. The window to build a "data moat" in real-world operations is open now, and it’s a race for high-quality, real-world operation data. 5️⃣ Scaling Law 2.0 Scaling hasn't hit a wall; it changed dimensions. As Yang Zhilin (@KimiSmartAI) highlighted, the new formula is Token Efficiency × Long Context × Agent Swarms. We aren't just building "bigger" models anymore; we are scaling through smarter architectural routing and automated collaboration. The bridge between bits and atoms is shortening. The winners of this era won't just be model builders, but those who master the Infrastructure of Intelligence.
