I don’t know what intern needs to hear this, but you’re doing AMAZING. Being an intern sucks, it’s hard and the learning curve is different for everyone. Keep showing up and fighting the good fight - proud of you!

So, I’m learning that the theme of second year of residency is about making management decisions and then defending those decisions like you are on trial.

Normalize NOT normalizing the amount of hours residents work.

The average American works <40 hours a week. Yet we normalize ACGME 80 hour work week caps.

Not gonna lie, there are times in residency that involve wanting to have a mental breakdown but not doing so because you don’t have the time.
