Real estate is the only industry where the professional gets blamed for the market. Rates go up? Agent's fault. Low inventory? Agent's fault. Offer rejected? Agent's fault. Appraisal comes in low? Somehow also the agent's fault. Agents don't control the market. They navigate it. There's a difference.

@BlackLabelAdvsr So helping your kids makes them weak? I don’t believe in participation trophies, that does make weak kids. You seem to be a bit extreme. I hope you still have a relationship with your kids when they’re adults. I suspect it will be strained, at the very least.

My sons are 5 and 11 and they are both saving up for their first car. I’m not helping them at all. I want them to feel full and total ownership very young after you paying cash. They will pay for everything. The car, insurance, gas, and maintenance. I know I will get some hate for this but I don’t care. This one simple financial exercise will ensure that they don’t become spoiled little brats who feel entitled to nice things. I try to remind them that the world won’t give them anything. It’s their job to outwork their peers and live wisely. Already, they are hungry for work. My oldest has even started to offer his cleaning services to our neighbors. Ultimately, I teach them to ask “what do I really want in life?”
