Slinging our 2nd round of bulk gypsum this year. Another 80 tons. The small piles/chunks will get knocked down with the next fairway mow and some rainfall. The good news - sodium levels in tissue samples have been the lowest in 20 years this season!
Given the rainfall over this past weekend and cold temperatures this week fairway aerification will be postponed until November 13th. We are proceeding with greens aerification and will have 9 holes open on Wednesday.
Our 4th extra aerification of the Mega green was completed Monday to combat the sod layer within the profile. The last of the year will take place the week of October 30th.
The large hornets you see on holes 5 and 11 are cicada, killers, and although scary represent no danger to golfers. Once we find their burrows we can work on eliminating them.
We will start light top dressing of these drainage trenches on 9 and 18 that have settled a bit. Unfortunately can’t go too heavy during this dry hot weather.
Vertiquake 7” deep on fairways for additional drainage and gas exchange in progress. Start slinging 80 tons of gypsum next week on rough and fairways to improve soil structure.
Day 2 of Fairway aerification went great. All the fairways finished with 1st rough bulk cleanup. Greens hit with another topdress and fertilizer application. Holes already starting to close up.
Will work on fine tuning cleanup on fairways today and tomorrow.
All greens aerified today but due to the overcast skies and occasional drizzle, we have been unable to work sand properly into the green canopies today.
A lot of work done this week on the master plan and capital projects. We’re behind schedule on addressing the weeds, but will get them under control next week with the good weather.
