All communities in Hermanus are encouraged to attend a community meeting at the Zwelihle sports grounds at 14:00 today. Minister of Police, Bheki Cele will host the Imbizo.

Premier Helen Zille was in Zwelihle this afternoon to address the crowd. She was rushed out of the area after people started throwing rocks. Police reacted with tear gas and stun grenades. Hermanus CPF reports that Zille will address the crowd with local DA and ANC councillors.

Whale Coast Mall has just confirmed to Hermanus Times that the mall is not being evacuated. Some shop are closed due to staff shortages.

The situation in Mount Pleasant is currently extremely volatile and members of the public are asked to avoid the area. R43 remains closed.
