We are post-scarcity in a lot of things, but preparing dinner just now one was very noticeable — salt.
Salt used to be a major economic input, was an early foundation of the Venetian economy, wars were fought over the income of salt pan areas, a man was “worth his salt.”
Now, when you are almost done with a jar of olives you dump the brine in the sink to drain the jar more easily because you aren’t going to do anything with the brine, the salt in your cupboard is $0.50 a pound.

@HexenFlexer @Arnoriuss @EndymionYT Gardening isn’t a “female hobby” anymore than gaming is male. Sure, it’s marketed more towards women but hobbies aren’t actually gendered because everyone likes different things regardless of gender. There’s plenty of men who garden. 🙄 Why not cater to both?

Video games are a male hobby, the difference is men are fine with you being in their hobby as long as you're not annoying. It's sort of like how make up is a predominantly female hobby/industry.
Men aren't bitching that you guys also get 75% market share of every clothing store either, cause we get it. Women buy more clothes than men it makes sense. Just like how men buy more video games than women do.
