Hexham Golf Club

The first match in the new Two Tynes League took place last night at Hexham against Matfen resulting in a 7-5 win for Hexham. The new league which is for players with a handicap index between 4.0 and 12.0 is attracting interest from a number of other clubs.

After a very wet day, luckily it dried up and the sun came out for the Hadrian League home match against Bellingham last night. A 10-2 win for Hexham puts them in second place behind Slaley Hall with a game in hand.

A 12-1 win for Hexham against Prudhoe in the Hadrian League last night. Well done to Sean Heads, Junior Dobson, Lewis Clilverd, Dan Twizell, Ian Richardson and Carl Staroscik (Not forgetting some excellent Caddy work by Martin Lowes). A great result despite the heavy rain.

Our Hadrian League team had an away match at Matfen who have brought in a number of good new players. However we managed to hold them to a very respectable 6-6 draw which keeps us at the top of league.

Congratulations to our Hadrian League team who are off to fantastic start to the season with an 11-1 win over High Gosforth Park.

The David Pagan Memorial Trophy was won by past organisers Stuart and Lorraine Gibb. The runner up spot went to Tony Nicholson and Carol Coxon.

Congratulations to David Hamilton and Tony Nicholson on winning the Sir Lawrie Barrett Trophy. They beat Bob Bailey and Nigel Porter in what was a very close match. Fortunately the worst of the weather held off until the match was complete.

It is with sadness that we have been forced to postpone tomorrow nights Burns Supper at Hexham Golf Club. The high winds have taken down a large section of the tree in front of the ladies locker room brining down the power lines and causing some damage.

The course is still covered in snow, which is frozen solid. Hopefully it will be the beginning of next week when we can get back open.

A good start this week, to the 13th bunker project. A bit more shaping and then the bunker is ready for turfing. Great work by the greenstaff.

Hexham Ladies celebrated the end of their summer playing season last night. A lovely meal followed by the presentation of trophies. A lovely evening enjoyed by everyone who attended.

At the ladies presentation night we were pleased to announce Anne Thompson as 2025 Lady Vice President and Joan Smith as Lady Vice Captain Elect, joining Lorraine Gibb as Lady Captain for our 2025 season.

The Corbridge Cup was won by Sean Heads and Dan Lowdon who secured the win on the 18th hole. Commiserations to the runners up Conor Browne and Jack Rasor who played some fantastic golf and made this a very close match.
