I was trying to type, "I love this!" on an Instagram post, but my phone autocorrected to, "I love biscuits." And ya know...that, too. 😋

I read a book by the pool (and in the pool, and by the pool, again) and now I'm eating watermelon and a Publix sub. This is honestly summertime perfection!

Living in the city, I never really see stars. But tonight, the sky was clear & the stars were bright & I must've been outside at the perfect time because WOW. I think I forgot space just...exists. In all its majesty. All its glory. All its magnitude. All the time. Wondrous.

Made it thru the night, but still in the dark. It's 12° outside, and I've just hit 25 hours without power. Pray for Nashville. 🥶

During morning arrival: Kid: Ms. Stoneking! I went to the iglesia on Sunday! Me: You did? Me too! Kid: Yeah! And you know what they talked about? Me: What? Kid: Jesus! And He washed people's feet!! *giggles* Isn't that weird!? Me: It IS weird. It's also pretty incredible.

"Ms. Stoneking, you don't look old, but... you're 40." Thanks? 😂

Today, we were reviewing what we'd learned about irregular plural nouns. Me: 1 goose, 2...? Class: Gooses! Me: No... Class: Goose...es? Gooses? It has to be gooses. Me: No, it's weird. Try again. 1 goose, 2...? Kid: Birds. 1 goose, 2 birds. Me: Okay, yeah. That's fair.

And suddenly, it's 2023 again. Still taking stuff. It's just stuff. Trinkets, really. Inconsequential. But I feel hollowed out. And I'm really, really sad about it. About a stupid, empty box.

And then this evening, just now, I decided to decorate my tree. I went to my closet to pull out my ornaments... and they're not there. I searched everywhere. Every closet. Every drawer. Everywhere. They're not here. Did the flood take them, too?

In 2023, I lost everything. I lost my home in a flood, along with most of my possessions. I left the SBC, which meant letting go of my job, leaving my church, and honestly, losing most of my friends and community.
