15 years to the day (!) I intro'd legislation that would have lowered NYC campaign $ matching fund ratio to 2-to-1 whenever the city had a budget deficit of $2 billion or more. Was one of efforts to instigate convo to rightsize overly generous system. Still ripe for reform...

As NYC faces mounting budgetary pressures, it's a good time to remember that there is an unprecedented 8-1 campaign matching funds provided by the taxpayers of the great City of New York for the sole benefit of political candidates. Given the woes and management challenges at present, it's a good time to terminate this program that does not serve the public. Every dollar must be spent wisely.

Truth is @BilldeBlasio never received the credit he deserved for his Admin’s epic efforts to address road conditions. He heard our rallying -- "Pave, Baby, Pave" and set records of resurfaced lane miles. It's still a core city service.

— sustained seasons of curb to curb resurfacing. I know in some circles anything car related seems anathema, but city gov't still has a responsibility to provide safe, smooth streets. You simply have to pave your way out of this hole.

Yes! @SIBPVito is spot on here. It was good seeing @NYC_DOT announce a pothole blitz last week. You can't leave these craters unaddressed -- so thank you. But here’s a hard truth: many of them will be back to potholes in short order, and there’s only 1 path to decent streets...
