Today is National Teaching Assistants' Day. Well-deserved recognition of the crucial role they play supporting young people, teachers, and schools. A massive and heartfelt 'Ta' to all TAs!

Across all GCSE subject entries within Hertfordshire, 34.9% were graded at 7 or higher. What a phenomenal performance by the students and their teachers.

Furthermore, the relationship between the performance of disadvantaged students (y) and the proportion of disadvantaged students (x), is of the form y = ax + b/x, with a minimum point around x = 0.16.

My key takeaways from @DrDanNicholls' excellent session: (1) The fairest way to judge schools is on the performance of their disadvantaged pupils. (2) The importance of clear, excellent teaching which allows disadvantaged students 'in', and which they don't have to decipher.

We have all heard teachers say things like "its not my time you are wasting" or "I already have GCSEs". What is your favourite one of these empty clichés? It's for a CPD project. ( #tvttagteam could you retweet please otherwise this plea will just get lost in the twitter sea)

You cannot get educated by this self-propagating system in which people study to pass exams, and teach others to pass exams, but nobody knows anything. You learn something by doing it yourself, by asking questions, by thinking, and by experimenting. 🧠
