I agree with this sentiment. Problem is, Stephen Colbert was never a "comedian." Lenny Bruce. He was a comedian. Don Rickles. He was a comedian. George Carlin. He was a comedian. Jerry Seinfeld. He is a comedian. They were/are comedians because everything and everybody was fair game for clever laughs. Stephen Colbert is an unfunny, unclever doctrinaire propagandist, straight out of central casting from whatever historical totalitarian regime that strikes your fancy: the court jester who never made fun of the court. Stephen Colbert was never a comedian.

Trump is now talking about suspending the national gas tax. GREAT. But if you want to see an even bigger change at the pump, tell your STATE to suspend its gas tax too. The national gas tax is about 18 cents a gallon. State taxes DOUBLE that. Or, in states like Washington and California, it's another 55 and 90 cents per gallon respectively. No wonder gas is so expensive there! Let's suspend ALL gas taxes.

Appreciate you calling this out. I do wonder when the Black community, writ-large, will have a change of heart, a change of culture. People think because I share crime stories involving Black men, I'm racist. But put simply... I follow the cases the national press won't touch BECAUSE of the race of the perpatrators. Iryna Zarutska. The bond decisions in Charlotte NC. The judges who keep putting violent repeat offenders back on the street. The victims don't get to pick who hurt them, and they deserve coverage too. If covering what actually happened makes me the problem, the problem isn't me. I want what's best for America... period. And right now, we need to be honest with ourselves and say we have a Black crime problem. It is not racist to state statistics. Of adults arrested for murder, 51.3% were Black, despite Black people only being 13% of the population. This is a problem we need to speak honestly about to find a solution.

They’re locked up because we are stealing more than other races. We need to become much better on this. The stores didn’t just wake up and say, “let’s lock these up from black people.” This is a result of us stealing. It’s that simple.

Hubby and I visited Sanibel Island in Florida this weekend and what I DIDN’T see was more impressive than what I DID see. I didn’t see homeless people camped on the beach or boardwalk. I didn’t see needles and drug paraphernalia laying around. I didn’t see human feces on the sidewalks. I didn’t see criminals looting stores or attacking people.
