Short story time. Got clocked in the face on Union St, Aberdeen last night in the shitty section (between Market St and Castlegate). I intervened in a situation where a guy was beating a beggar with a crutch 🧵

I was up the royal mile today. It's like the Disney land version of the capital. Some guy dressed like William Wallace was walking up the pavement. I half expected to see a parade float of Loch Ness Monster. I think these tourists would get a reality check if they read my book

@EEkirstie @dct_media that was my youth. George St shops were better than anywhere! And we of a certain vintage all miss the Rubber Shop! It used to be where Markies is then moved down to where the optician is in the Bon Accord centre. Sold boots, raincoats, fitbas, and had TOYS upstair. Best Ever.

A note on my username for non-Scots speakers, "Quine" is the Scots word for a girl, derived from the Germanic "quean", NOT queen. The Danes used it to mean a harlot, but it's been the NE Scots dialect term for a girl at least 100yr! We don't say lass unless we mean GF.
