High Mileage Tesla Model Y

17 months ago I bought a used 2021 Tesla Model Y with an expired warranty (123,000 miles). Guess how much I have spent on total maintenance after adding more than 20k miles. Bonus points if you can guess how much I have spent on charging as well (21,136 miles driven).

Last month, we received a family gift of $260,000. We debated a lot and ultimately decided for a few reasons to drop it all on our 3.75% mortgage. Our mortgage went from $750k --> $490k We recognize we could have made much more investing, but it felt secure to take a little risk off the table. Mortgage calculator shows this will save us $285k in interest. We then recasted our mortgage and our payment dropped from ~$3,800 to ~$2,400. A little bit closer to freedom.

We only have 7 tax brackets. The fallacy of the flat tax idea is that reducing from 7 to 1 bracket will make any difference. The problem with the tax code is that it shifts the burden of taxes onto the backs of the middle class instead of distributing it fairly and making the rich pay their share.

Flat tax. Whether you make $1000 or $100 million. A fixed percentage for everybody. And that’s it. A one-page tax form. No bullshit. Everybody pays a reasonable and equitable amount. Everyone - from the wealthiest to the poorest - have skin in the game.

@HighMileTeslaY @ChrisGuthrie @SawyerMerritt The Lightning has still sold more total than the cybertruck by about 20k units. When you combine all the EV trucks on sale they equal more than CT sales. You will still have more people choosing a traditional truck vs the CT.

Tough market for EV trucks in general though.
