@britishpoles My father, a British soldier fought at Monte Cassino. He survived the war. Rarely talked about it. In 2000 my wife and I took my mother to Cassino to remember him. I spoke with a young Polish woman whose Grandfather had been a warrior at Cassino. Thank you.

Today we pay tribute to the Polish soldiers who fought for "your freedom and ours". On 21 July 1943, the 2nd Polish Corps was formed from units of the Polish Army in the East under the command of General Władysław Anders. Listen to the song "Czerwone maki na Monte Cassino". Its lyrics were written by Feliks Konarski, a soldier of the 2nd Polish Corps in the West. Glory to the heroes!
