The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity.” — Leo Tolstoy||UBUMUNTU||

#Rwanda: I see people debating over this, but as founder of one of the most successful NDFIs in Rwanda, namely @iwacufinance, I can say dealing with Rising prices may feel “normal” at first, but when inflation becomes too high, ordinary people suffer the most. Because salaries stay the same while food, transport and rent keep rising. That is why BNR increased interest rates: not to punish people, but to slow down the rapid rise in prices and protect the value of the Rwandan franc. When borrowing becomes more expensive, people and businesses spend more carefully, demand cools down, and sellers become less able to increase prices every week. Yes, this can slow business activity for some time, but uncontrolled inflation is even more dangerous because it can destroy savings, purchasing power, and economic stability. In simple words, BNR is choosing short-term pain now to avoid a much bigger economic crisis later.
