@Gwenelope Me again - sorry for replying all over the place! Do you ask for half/full/6 lessons for a discount of 10% etc. up front? Or PAYG for slightly more, but they pay you before the session starts? Your time IS precious: no payment, no tutoring.

I usually finish with ‘If payment isn’t received by [day & time] I shall assume you no longer wish for tutoring to go ahead and I can offer the time slot to another family’ Sign off super politely. Either they pay or they don’t, but not going to have my time wasted.

All hail parents who settle a tutoring invoice well before the deadline, or at least on it. You’re great. Had to send my ‘I notice you haven’t paid your invoice on the due date’ email today.

@Gwenelope Use the small claims court, Gwen. You can do it online (you need to show you've provided the service and they've agreed to it, and you need to pay a fee up front, but you get it back!) I did it with an organisation you know as ex-FE. They paid up a week before the court date.

News: There are no plans at present to make any changes to the Award (AET) and the Certificate (CET) in Education and Training. However, if you teach them, you might like to include aspects such as updated legislation, sustainability, and AI. @Amplify #FE #AET #CET

Low pass rates (particularly among 16 - 18 year olds), lack of funding, no contextualisation ... anyone surprised?

What topics/advice would you like included in a text book for the new Diploma in Teaching? The qual replaces the DET from Sept 1st. The book's also applicable to the Learning and Skills Teacher apprenticeship. I'm co-authoring with Gavin Lumsden of @TeachUKClass. Thank you!

@FurtherEdagogy Oh - and don't confuse contextualised activities with those embedded within the work task. Use contextualised activities for building skill/confidence.

@FurtherEdagogy Context (the vocational area) is everything. Start with the main tasks learners need to get good at and ID where Eng, maths and/or digital skills are needed. Work outwards from there.
