@criminographer You go girl, you are much stronger than you give yourself credit for. Just talking about Alexander shows you are dealing with your loss and using the strength you get from knowing he is smiling down on you

This was me heading back to work after my maternity leave with Alexander. My time off had been a delight. As I gear up to going back to work after my breakdown, I'm taking strength from this photo, knowing he is still cheering me on with his sunny soul. #grief #childloss #ptsd

@BlondeHistorian At least books come with a guaranteed cuddle at this moment in time. Not quite the same I know but you're still super mum. I like the sound of the Short Sided Giraff, I think my grandchildren might be too old though. Still going to look it up on Amazon 💕💕💕💕💕💕

Happy 2nd birthday to Rufus. You are the most resilient little boy, facing challenges with a smile on your face. We are so proud of you. You are funny, cheeky and always down to boogie. You have brought so much happiness and taught us all so much. Our (not so) little warrior!

@BlondeHistorian I'm pleased to hear that Amy, and it's how every pregnant woman should feel no matter what. My step daughter had NCT support throughout her pregnancies and is still in touch eight years on.

@BlondeHistorian You have done really well for twenty months Amy. LO is going to dictate how things go from here, it doesn't mean you won't have lots of cuddles though. Give yourself a big pat on the back for being Supermum💕💕💕💕💕

New research from @theRCN shows the worrying extent of nursing workforce shortages. This needs to be addressed if we are to ensure seriously ill children are able to access the care and support they need, when and where they need it. #shortlivescantwait #GeneralElection

There are not enough nurses to meet the needs of patients safely. We need professionally and legally enforceable nurse-to-patient ratios in every health care setting. Our members reveal the true scale of a dire situation. Read more ➡️ bit.ly/4eL8yW0

@ejgarner85 Loosing a child is one of the hardest things. To use your grief and knowledge of what parents need. Empathy and compassion are skills that cannot be taught. You will make an exceptional paediatric nurse

My life was irreversibly altered by the death of my son. Everything changed. Things that seemed important prior to his death no longer mattered. My motivation, drive, and passion changed, and over time, took a different direction. Trivial matters at work became intolerable. I knew I needed a change. I felt a pull to use the skills I’d gained in caring for my son in a positive way. To care for others and to become a nurse. I felt the desire to make a genuine difference using my own lived experience. So I applied for a place on a masters nursing degree, and started last year. I've faced challenges, of course I have. There have been times when the work has been triggering, tough, and emotional. But I've given it my absolute all. Each and every day. I strive to honour my son’s memory by providing top quality, empathetic care. Just like we recieved. Today, however, my ‘motives’ were challenged. It had never occurred to me that anyone could think that I became a nurse for any reason other than a genuine commitment to quality patient care, and a desire to use my lived experience to enhance the care of others. It was a blow that struck deep, questioning the very foundation of my journey. It floored me in honesty. I’ve been upset since. I’m trying to take this doubt and use it to reinforce my commitment. I know why I am here. I am here to make a difference, to offer the kind of care that can change lives. My son's death reshaped my world, but it also ignited a passion within me. A passion to ensure that every patient and their family feels valued, understood, and cared for, at a human level. And that, above all, is why I became a paeds nurse. #StudentNurse #Nurse #FutureNurse #PCCNurse #CriticalCareNurse #NHS #SelfDoubt #StudentLife #NHSNurse #BereavedMother #BereavedParent #ExistentialGrief #Caring #Nursing #SearchingForStrength

@Tog4ShortLives When my son was diagnosed with ALD, we were blindsided by his diagnosis, no treatment just palliative care. In South Wales a new hospice opened and we were amongst the 1st there. They saved our lives, were there for us as a family. 24 years on they are still there, supportin us

Nearly one fifth (16%) of children’s hospices’ running costs are paid for by the £25m NHSE fund. Despite this, this funding stream is yet to be confirmed for years beyond 2024/25.

@criminographer @takeabreakmag @SUDCUK1 I'm going to try and get hold of a copy Emily. I've only arrived home from hospital today so will get my daughter to get me one. I did a lot of similar things when Samuel died, I am a carrier of ALD, it's very rare like PPA2deficiency. Sending love xxx

Our story features in @takeabreakmag today. Please buy, share & raise awareness. We will only find treatments and cures for #ppa2deficiency if we push for research & for more answers for families affected by #sudc. For Alexander, for Isabelle and all affected children. @SUDCUK1
