Let me tell you a short anecdote on Lalitha Sahasranaam chanting. Years ago a couple were on the brink of separation. The guy went and saw a noted Jyotishi. Jyotishi told him after listening to his story to split up from the girl. Unknown to the Jyotishi, the girl was chanting Lalitha Sahasranaam stotra with full devotion daily. Literally she would put her heart into chanting. Nobody taught her, nobody initiated her, she had learnt it on her own. The guy would occasionally object to it. You know what happened next? The Jyotishi got such a fright that same day…. something so weird happened in that person’s workplace (and that Jyotishi got blamed) that he needed a few days to recover. He reflected. Never in his life had anything like that ever happened. Why then did it happen? He made enquiries, ‘I forgot to ask…. do you or your wife do any sadhana? Soon enough, he realised that the girl was reciting Lalitha Sahasranaam stotra daily. He came to me. I told him, if you want to escape from your fate… ask that guy to stick with the girl and tell him to massage her feet daily. Treat her well and stop objecting to LS chanting. Ask him to treat her well and stick with her. Your workplace trouble will be solved. Anyway, he counselled them…. soon that couple’s troubles reduced…. and the Jyotishi miraculously next day got an email saying that the workplace issue was not his fault. This is not an isolated story. Millions of women in South India chant Lalitha Sahasranaam. Nobody initiated them, nobody gave them Diksha. Generations of South Indian women will testify of miracles in their houses with Lalitha chanting. So at least I will endorse chanting Lalitha Sahasranaam without initiation or Diksha as long as you learnt to pronounce it properly.
