An idea I proposed to North Berkeley design standards that Planing Commission voted on: allow ornament as an alternative to requiring notches, bump outs, & multiple materials on large buildings. This keeps building interesting, while also saving on structural & energy costs. 🏘️

@jchannon @Hippopottoman Calculations are right. Whoever created the exercise just didn't take into account visual consistency. If you redraw it transposing the values to their 180-complement (x+60 to the right arc, 2x-10 to the left arc) you get the exact same answer, and now it "makes sense".

@jchannon Sorry. I was not thinking. Yes, x + 60 is supposed to be the acute angle. The answer is that you aren't supposed to rely on your eyes when answering these ?s. And yeah, maybe a printing error and the angle was suppose to be the obtuse one.

@jchannon I don't understand "if you add 60 there's no way it's 130". Are you trying to relate x + 60 to something in the diagram? Someone just wanted you to use geometry and algebra. (And FWIW, the angle looks a little shy of 70 to me. Maaaaybe 60. But visuals don't factor into the ?.)

Textual has this helpful report generator designed to be pasted directly in to issues. It's all valid Markdown, so it renders nice tables in Github. And yet people keep blockquoting the report or even taking a screenshot of it. Even with the comment at the top. 🤷‍♂️

@willmcgugan Do it! Lifelong Canadian using at work in Canada. Nobody's complained. And it's super fun. Also, for large groups, consider "all y'all".

I want to start using the term "y'all". Other Brits may roll their eyes, but it's useful. Closest we have is "you guys" but that sounds clumsy to me, and it is unnecessarily gendered. Y'all agree?

I had, until yesterday, actually been using the "For you" feed on this hellsite because for the most part the extra stuff was also interesting, even the animal videos. But it's now changed and I'm now seeing more and more posts containing actual transphobia/MAGA-ness/etc. Ugh.
