Japan is a country that has traditions related to the observance of Shinto and Buddhist traditions.
Catholicism would wipe out those traditional practices since they are tied to revering other gods.

Dude Japanese does allow dual citizenship. The do not crack down on it. I know a lot of people who are over 21 with dual citizenship. Also “assimilation” is never possible. I’m not going to say I’m not Americanized at all but I’m definitely distinguishable from a white guy even though my ancestors came 130 years ago.
