@mr_iklerz Our horrid style of football is mostly down to him. It’s pragmatism and moments with zero risk or excitement which coincidentally is exactly how Southgate’s England played which he helped coach.

Carrick without Holland is a scary thought our best feature under Carrick has been defensively we’ve been better and that’s all Holland if he goes….
utdreport@utdreport

One key consideration for #mufc around the possibility of Michael Carrick being given the job permanently is the future of assistant Steve Holland and whether he is also open to extending his stay [@RobDawsonESPN]

“Wary of Solskjaer repeat” If Carrick ‘only’ manages to get us 2nd next season, into a cup final or two and gets us playing exciting football it’s not a bad thing at all. Solskjaer with Ineos recruitment wins a title. Carrick can too. #mufc

@Gerardvale777 @UnitedStandMUFC Carrick hasn’t won a single thing and was sacked by Middlesborough for not accomplishing anything and playing horrid football so I’d make a different comparison.

@ODonnellDale @jonathankm00 “Same reason we’re third right now” as I said. If Newcastle, forest, Chelsea and Liverpool were the levels they were last year we’d be nowhere near third and that’s just a fact.

I like Iraola. It absolutely makes sense to consider him. Hell, interview him. He's done a great job at Bournemouth. We'll be right back to the coach demanding high intensity though (like Amorim did) with 15+ extra games next season. There's the whole question about if he can hack it at a club the size of United. And I'll bet nobody remembers when Bournemouth went 11 games without a win in the Premier League literally a few months ago.

@AndrewFearn95 @__scottsaunders I think the idea that he “failed” isn’t exactly accurate. He had us in a ucl spot playing decent football and only got sacked because he spoke out about the board not backing him in january.

@__scottsaunders I’ve seen this notion that we couldn’t appoint somebody because he’d demand too much, and I just don’t agree that’s even a valid reason. He demanded standards, the players have spoken of the benefits of that. He failed because of his coaching, tactics and suitability to the squad

@macben_macszy @UtdFaithfuls Generally you’re right and I don’t think anyone would say no to Nagelsmann or Enrique but Carrick’s experience is a Middlesbrough sacking. Iraola plays some of the best football in the prem and was third in the league at the start of the season with Bournemouth. Moyes wasn’t.

@UtdFaithfuls This is like David Moyes moving from Everton to Manchester United in 2013. Mid-table team managers and Big teams always don’t gel and it’s not difficult to understand why. We should go for an experienced coach at top level, if not I will stick with Carrick.

Just seeing reports that Andoni Iraola has emerged as the STRONGEST candidate to rival Michael Carrick for the Man Utd permanent Head Coach job. Personally, I'd rather we keep Carrick than appoint Iraola.

🚨 JUST IN: Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham’s 21-year-old Senegal left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf this summer to challenge injury-prone Luke Shaw. Diouf has impressed since a slow start at West Ham, who may be open to selling amid relegation worries. [@JacobSteinberg, @JamieJackson___]

@Itshaber We keep getting story after story that the players we actually need are “too expensive” because these owners don’t understand that in order to get best in class you need to pay for it. 2 midfielders isn’t enough and we will struggle next season with these clowns at the top.

At the start of this season, coming off the back of a 15th place finish, I would’ve been happy if United finished 6th. We’re sat in 3rd and almost confirmed UCL football next season. I think it’s fair to say it’s been a good season. The cup knockouts were embarrassing, and I honestly think we’re not even out of 3rd gear as a team. But we can build on this. This summer needs to be big. With the increased load & losing a vital leader like Casemiro, if we don’t get this summer right we’ll struggle to retain top 6 next season let alone progress.. I’m quietly confident though, think the board have been getting a good majority of signings right since INEOS took over.

@HirschReid @markgoldbridge No one every compared Carrick to Enrique. It just isn't done. The truth in the matter is Enrique is the highest paid coach in the world. Would cost him 50mil in salary and another 40 for psg just to get him. No way we can afford that and he requires certain players

Carrick deserves huge credit. That switch to a back 3at half time completely shut Brentford down. Outside of a wondergoal, they had little. That is top-level coaching. This is also a team that has now scored in 22 consecutive Premier League matches, a run not seen since 2013. That is not luck, that is structure, patterns, and belief being drilled into the side. And let’s not forget the noise around him. Doubts, criticism, people questioning everything he does. Yet he keeps delivering, keeps adapting, keeps getting results. People need to start giving him the credit he deserves

No manager can play any kind of sustainable football with this squad. The fact that people still don’t understand that is honestly beyond me. This squad is average. It lacks depth, lacks quality, still lacks physicality and overall it’s unbalanced. Expecting better football with a squad like this just shows a lack of understanding of how football actually works. If it was only about the manager’s quality, Luis Enrique wouldn’t have requested 20 new players at PSG, he would have simply worked with what he had.

This football isnt sustainable tbh but imma put it down to lack of technical players. We are too easy to attack/break down.
