When you're complaining publicly about having to sell the property you use as an unlicensed hotel because it's no longer a viable way of generating income it helps to remember that a large proportion of the people listening can't afford to own one home in the first place

@trapcook That's not what I said. New York City is run by a conservative Democrat ex-cop and New York State has been run by conservative Democrats for literal decades, including those who caucused with Republicans to hand them the keys to the state legislature for years. It's not better.

@His_Toddliness Mods run, sure. We got a Mod in, in one of the districts (mine, as it happens). The Supe I’m barking at won by a thread; he’s up again in ‘24. Other DSA candidates run unopposed. But we need to find more of the sensible candidates to run.

@His_Toddliness For Board of Supervisor, there are no primaries, but uses RCV. For state offices, the top two vote-getters in the primary face off in the general, regardless of party.

@His_Toddliness You don’t, really. You look for moderate Dems. For instance, my club made a raft of recommendations in ‘22, and the only R’s we endorsed were for state offices (no Rs ran locally - it’s a death knell in SF). There are candidates here that hew pretty closely to my way of thinking.
