Whoever wins today, we're gonna have to fight hard against the rise of fascism. In the street that's one kind of battle, but in the home it's different. That's why I wrote this book, How to Talk to Your Son about Fascism, coming out next spring. routledge.com/How-to-Talk-to…

By telling the world about his impoverished upbringing, Trump’s vice presidential pick made a small fortune—and planted seeds for a political future. trib.al/2C5swTC trib.al/2C5swTC

53% of people in Argentina are now suffering in poverty, under libertarian President Javier Milei. Annual inflation is c 240%. 136,000 jobs have been lost. Just 40% of Argentines have a positive view of Milei. This is actually existing libertarianism. ft.com/content/ccaeb4…

@TheEconomist publishing a headline about "tradwives" without mentioning misogyny isn't just bad journalism -- it's right-wing propaganda

“Traditional” housewives, or #tradwives, have been going viral. The trend belongs to a long history of idealising domesticity econ.st/4e1kiCU 👇

Duke in the 2000s was full of profs who’d make undergrads apply for the honor to take their seminars (then reject most). When I was a senior I went to Fredric Jameson’s office hours and asked to take his grad seminar (Theories of Temporality). He was like yea, of course, why not?

“In my opinion, the Jewish people would have a lot to do with a loss…” One of the most powerful nationalist leaders in the world threatening to blame Jews if he loses the election. But hey- campuses! Look over there instead!
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Trump tells a Jewish group the Jews will be to blame if he loses: "I will put it to you very simply and gently: I really haven't been treated right, but you haven't been treated right because you're putting yourself in great danger."

HSR proposal by @Nerd4Cities What do you think? What would you change? A Vancouver-Portland route just missed his list, but would be a logical next expansion in this hypothetical world.

It’s so wild that New York City has one of the worst rent crisis issues in the country when you consider that they have this huge island south of Manhattan that they just let be covered in single family housing and don’t even use all of

haven't heard enough about how Twitter's AI bot is called "grok" -- a sci-fi word that means "to consume/encompass/take hold of/become in its entirety" the name *literally* references the human-made content it steals to generate what it spits out

This is crazy. Biden lost non-college educated voters by 4 percent, which was a big sign of class dealignment. Now Harris is set to lose them by 17 percent. She might win in 2024 with an anti-Trump professional base but what’s going to happen in 2028 and 2032?
