I had an amazing time chatting about The Dragon & the Pearl. It was my second book and it felt like it wasn’t well-received in its time. This talk reminded me how much heart I put into it and how much its quiet undercurrents do resonate with some readers.

Full disclosure: as much as I loved Butterfly Swords, I walked away from that book with a big, albeit reluctant, crush on Li Tao. So you better believe that I'm looking forward to not feeling guilty for wanting to read about the antagonist more than I want to read about the hero!
