The battles of the Boyne & Aughrim, along with the siege of Derry, shaped Protestant identity in Ireland for centuries. See a King Billy wallet (from Ulster Museum) & one of the 4 enormous locks used to secure Derry (from St Columbs cathedral). @EmpirePodUK

Devastating, short-sighted and shamefully irresponsible announcement by @UOW management today of 135 proposed sackings, including whole teaching departments such as history. All the while the VC is a partner in a consultancy firm reviewing the university’s operations. @NTEUnion

An amazing account of a 19th c Irish Australian migrant family and rare early photos that have recently been found, including an extraordinary image of their children with an indigenous Australian nursemaid. Henry Kidd Harpur was born in Limerick in 1817 and emigrated in 1841.
