@walterkirn It’s a sign of an illiberal mind to say: I cannot respect anyone who doesn’t share my opinion on this or that issue. The founders had vehemently different positions but respected each other. We need to get back to that.

Three weeks of war, they may or may not have finally gotten a lucky shot on a plane — and not even brought it down. People are out of their minds. America lost, lost, a stealth fighter over Kosovo in the ‘90s. Literally, nobody said it was the end of America and the war was lost.

It wasn’t Russian air defenses It wasn’t Chinese air defenses It wasn’t American air defenses It was a fully domestically built Iranian air defense system that tracked & hit the “stealth” F-35. Built by Iranian engineers during MAXIMUM sanctions. Necessity is the mother of invention.

I said a stealth fighter was shot down over Kosovo. Which is a truth, a fact. Instead of responding to the point about the jet he claimed Kosovo never existed. Now, as somebody who knows there’s only one Macedonia and that it’s in Greece, I understand some people may not like Kosovo’s independence. But it’s literally what everybody called it during the war, and it definitely existed as a province of Serbia — and before that of Yugoslavia. I’d be happy to learn about the nuances of its history, but it had literally nothing to do with the point (it was a distraction tactic) and I certainly don’t let anyone, no matter how obese, to call me a liar because they lie that Kosovo doesn’t exist as a place.

The tweet that got you so triggered was simply pointing out how international sanctions - once the West’s favorite weapon for coercion and subjugation - are rapidly losing their bite and relevance. We wouldn’t be this shocked or impressed if the country shrugging them off were a conventional military heavyweight like China, Russia, or even an EU member state. The real awe comes from watching a smaller, long-sanctioned nation like Iran expose just how hollow and outdated the entire sanctions playbook has become.

The place EXISTED. And it’s immaterial to the base point that a nighthawk was shot down there. So if you’d like to discuss the actual point instead of distracting, feel free to do so. Now, if you wanna talk about Macedonia and not existing, I’m all in. But literally everybody called the Kosovo. It was a province of Yugoslavia. Then a province of Serbia. This is like saying, the Rhineland didn’t exist because it was part of Czechoslovakia It’s not a serious point. It’s a distraction. Good luck to you finding some of the fall for such a weak play.
