We can’t believe it’s the final day of our tour already. Still some amazing things to see before we head for Calais. Lots of evidence of war still present today at Pond Farm.

This morning we began our day at Messines, before heading back into France to begin our tour of the Somme region.

The weather forecast for Ypres is dry and mild for the next few days. But the ground can still be damp and muddy in places - don’t forget your walking boots/old trainers and a bag to store them in so they don’t dirty your case on the way home!

Today, on Genocide Prevention Day, we at Highfields School pledge to use our @UCL_Holocaust QM Beacon School status to ensure continued quality Holocaust and Genocide education throughout our curriculum and commit to #BerniesJourney @RWBAHolocaust #HtFMeUs project.

A huge thank you to Muskeen in Year 13 who presented her reflections from participation in @HolocaustUK #LessonsFromAuschwitz project on Friday afternoon to 60 Year 9 students. Students were captivated by your experiences and it was delightful to see them engage with your work 👏

“When we stop talking about something, then it is truly gone” Words of wisdom from Year 12 student, Prehlaad, about why Holocaust education and using personal stories and names is so important today. A strong message shared to Year 8 about their roles as witnesses of the past.

Congratulations Prehlaad! A powerful demonstration of the impact peer education can have. Year 8 were gripped and wanted to hear more about your experiences and reflections from your visit to Auschwitz.
