$HIVE is the Governance token of Hive Protocol.
The governance framework of Hive Protocol allows all stakers of $HIVE to participate in voting on community governance proposals. Token holders are required to stake their tokens within the $HIVE staking pool to participate.
Governance operates on a 1:1 coin-voting model, meaning that each token staked equates to one voting right.
So long as they have staked 0.2% of the total HIVE tokens, any holder of HIVE can propose submissions to the Hive DAO.
Community governance proposals can encompass various ideas, including:
- Determining the size of the wallet allocation per protocol.
- Determining a protocol to be added to the pool, and/or allocation of treasury funds towards modular additions to the benefit of the operation.
- Reward distribution and weighting.
- New products and/or public engagement at the benefit of the Hive ecosystem.

Unlocked Staking: Flexibility to unstake tokens at any given point in time.
