Back to reality after picking up 8 awards @nathoneyshow last week. Sustaining an urban bee population is a 365 days-a-year job: that’s why we decided to call ourselves “Bermondsey Street Bees” and not “Such-&-Such Honey”. The welfare of our bees must always come before the honey.

@bbcburnsy If I can get the council to free up a patch of ground for planting, would you be up for spreading the word?

It’s more than just another logo. To be a “Great Taste Producer”, you have to win @guildoffinefood #GreatTasteAward stars for 3 years - we’re at 4 consecutive years and counting. Our distinction is that every single honey we’ve ever entered in #GTA has won at least a single star.

Honey in its original state: on the comb. This was the original luxury food for our ancestors: naturally occurring, high energy, long-lasting, deliciously sweet and extremely versatile. And the bees haven’t changed how they make it since the first human bit into a honeycomb.

Just had the results for our Bermondsey Street Honey from the National Honey Monitoring Scheme. Fascinating. This very urban honey contains the goodness from a whopping 36 varieties of trees & plants! Tree Of Heaven was by far our bees’ favourite forage destination. Hallelujah !

Sound is so elemental to life and survival that it prompted Tel Aviv University researcher Lilach Hadany to ask: What if it wasn’t just animals that could sense sound—what if plants could, too? on.natgeo.com/2SWbGEb
