What a great team work ! We found that withdrawal of VPA significantly increases the risk of tonic-clonic seizures, with the highest risk occurring in the first trimester and up to 72% resumed #valproic after withdrawal.

In a nutshell: Think twice before doing SEEG if the ictal scalp EEG doesn’t point to a clear target—outcomes aren’t great. This scenario is common—1 in 3 patients in our cohort. Proud of this work and thankful for a stellar research team.
