We had the enlightening opportunity to attend the 2026 National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) Forum in Philly! It's always a pleasure to connect with public servants & bring back insights that will help us strengthen how we serve the residents of Howard County.

It was a true honor to join our community in dedicating the Shane E. Pendergrass Health Center at the Howard County Health Department, recognizing more than 35 years of extraordinary public service.

We visited Howard Community College for the topping off ceremony of the new Cathy and Danny Bell Workforce Development & Trades Center! This new center represents a powerful investment in our workforce and our future.

Progress is booming at the site of the new Performing Arts Center and Artists Flats in Downtown Columbia. Last year, we broke ground on this transformative project and construction is moving quickly. The building frame and roof are now visible.

We joined our neighbors once more to break fasts and celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. This time, we took a trip to the Islamic Society of Baltimore, a beloved institution for countless Muslims in Howard County.

It was an honor to join in the Investiture of Yolanda F. Sonnier, who was sworn in as our new Magistrate for the Circuit Court for Howard County. With more than 25 years of legal and public service experience, Magistrate Sonnier brings deep roots in advocacy to the bench.

It was a joy to be with our Muslim community to celebrate Ramadan at the HCMC Iftar Dinner. We are entering the last 10 days of Ramadan. For our Muslim community, it is the most sacred time of the month. We wish all who are observing a reflective and enlightening final stretch.

We joined 500 residents, faith leaders, & community advocates at the People Acting Together in Howard County Candidate Forum. We gathered stories and about the issues that most affect people’s daily lives. These conversations help shape the priorities that leaders must address.

We joined students, families, and educators at the HCPSS HBCU College & Career Fair. Thank you to HCPSS, the HBCUs, career partners, educators, and volunteers who made this event possible. By investing in our young people, we are investing in the future of Howard County.

I testified in Annapolis in strong support of House Bill 1563. This legislation helps protect Maryland families when they seek emergency medical care. In Howard County, we're investing locally to expand capacity, reduce wait times, and improve patient outcomes.

We joined CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and community partners at the Howard County Wellness at Work forum. This event brought together local stakeholders around a shared belief: investing in workforce wellness strengthens not just employees, but our entire community.

We joined our Muslim community at Dar Al-Taqwa for Iftar and to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. Thank you to the Board of Directors, volunteers, and the entire community for your warm hospitality. To all who are observing, we wish you a peaceful and blessed Ramadan.

We joined the Howard County Library System for the 2026 Evening in the Stacks. This annual fundraiser celebrates and invests in the power of libraries. Proceeds support critical initiatives, including early literacy programs, Battle of the Books, and On the Road to Kindergarten.

The Black Business Bazaar was the perfect way to cap off Black History Month! We had 50 Black-owned vendors gather to share their art, their passions, their innovations, and their livelihood. We encourage all Howard County residents to support our local businesses year-round.

We and the Community Action Council celebrated Read Across America with some incredible young learners at the Children’s Learning Center at Howard Community College! Together we read What Do You Do With an Idea? by Kobi Yamada.

The Capitoline Center in Historic Ellicott City is officially open! After nearly 200 years serving as our seat of justice, our historic courthouse begins a new chapter. The Center is now home to the Howard County Arts Council and Howard County’s first AAPI Cultural Center.

I traveled to Annapolis to testify in support of Senate Bill 62, the Transportation Investment Priorities Act of 2026. For Howard County, this means a more transparent and collaborative partnership with the state, and a stronger voice in advancing transportation projects.
