Apparently worldbuilding isn't a fundamental writing mechanic

this is terrible advice please do not do this the goal of self defense is to create space between you and your attacker and any blunt object will not help you do that and in many states blunt object are seen as deadly weapons which can legally be met with equal force aka a gun

Probably the most outrageous mistranslation by Emily Wilson is found in Book XXIV, line 303. Wilson translates: "Lying Odysseus replied, 'I will tell you the truth completely.'" Wilson misrepresents the meaning of πολύμητις. Murray for example translates this as "of many wiles", which is also a bit misleading. But to translate πολύμητις as lying is outright evil. πολύμητις is reminiscent of πολύτροπον in Book I, line 1. πολύμητις means to be thoughtful, circumspect, in many ways and in this way cunning.

Until next time. 🤝 Good luck the rest of the way, @Canes.

The Tokyo subway sarin attack was a chemical terror attack carried out on March 20, 1995, in Tokyo, Japan, by members of the Aum Shinrikyo cult. In five coordinated attacks during the morning rush hour, the group released sarin gas, a deadly nerve agent, on three subway lines. The attack killed 14 people, seriously injured about 50 others, and caused temporary vision problems for nearly 1,000 more. The trains targeted passed through central government areas near Japan’s parliament. The cult’s leader, Shoko Asahara, had already been linked to earlier murders and a previous sarin attack in Matsumoto. The group also experimented with other chemical and biological weapons. Investigators believe Asahara ordered the subway attack to disrupt an upcoming police raid and advance his apocalyptic beliefs. After the attack, police arrested more than 200 cult members, including Asahara. Thirteen top leaders were sentenced to death and later executed, while others received long prison terms. The incident remains Japan’s deadliest modern terrorist attack. The most haunting photos ever taken: bit.ly/46yA996
