Figures like Murad used to talk about 'movement coins' having the highest potential of memecoins.
But the truth is that the coins that have been called 'movements' are actually... just regular memes.
There isn't actually a realistic mission. At most, a cult has formed around these coins, where extreme belief is performed by holders and that belief is marketed as the biggest selling point for the coin.
But in all my years in the market, the only coin I've seen that looks like it could become a genuine movement, is $HODL @hodl2013.
HODL can become a movement of retail holders who choose to unite together through diamond hands, and by doing so, win together long-term against smart money and big players.
And it's not just any other 'HODL' coin: it's backed by GameKyuubi, the inventor of the HODL term who crystallised the spirit of crypto with his famous drunken 2013 post 'I AM HODLING' on BitcoinTalk Forum.
This kind of movement which returns to the original spirit of crypto, with the legitimacy of being led by GameKyuubi, is exactly what the crypto space needs right now.
Everyone is sick and tired of corrupt launchpads and big players extracting from retail, to the point where it feels like it's almost impossible to win in these markets, and where many people have been driven away entirely. Everyone is sick and tired of low-cap toppers, endless rotation, and being dumped on by Fortnite pumpfun streamers.
Not only that, but the world has become such an uncertain place: the market is hard enough on its own but it's even more uncertain when there are wars going on, endless doomposting, and permabears pointing at macro-economics and mocking anyone who dared to believe in altseason.
In this context, HODL has the potential to unite retail and the trenches around a movement which is about diamond-handing and achieving a level of success that no one thought was possible anymore, showing that collectively we can overcome all corrupt players when we unite.
HODL, with the backing of GameKyuubi, appeals not just to the trenches, but also to GameStop veterans, Redditers, 4chan users, and crypto OGs who understand the figure of GameKyuubi and what he represents. (Hell, since there's a 'HODL' ETF now, it probably even appeals to some corporates).
And finally, what I've noticed so far since joining the HODL movement, is that people sincerely *believe* in this coin as having generational, multi-cycle potential. There's no performance, no need to drum up fake hype, no need to pretend to be a 'cult' behind a movement 'leader'. There are genuine people here who want the crypto space to change, and who want to believe in something again and change their lives again, and they are forming a long-term community around $HODL.
I am one of them. I don't need to perform hype or pretend to be in a cult. I sincerely believe HODL is one of the biggest coins ever spawned in crypto, and that it has the potential to enter the meme history books alongside GameStop, the AMC squeeze, and any of the biggest crypto memecoins.
