Masai Ujiri on the Luka trade:

@pd3244 @BBGreatMoments Yadi wasn’t an elite bat. You remove a Mauer or Posey from a lineup and replace them with Yadier, that team is worse.
English

Start, Bench, Cut: Buster Posey, Yadier Molina, and Joe Mauer.
Three of the defining catchers of their generation. Posey had the MVP peak and championships, Molina had the defense, leadership, and postseason résumé, and Mauer had one of the best offensive primes ever for a catcher.
Who are you starting, who are you benching, and who are you cutting?

English

@rwhite177 @JaunJose181139 @BBGreatMoments I never said he wasn’t. I just think he’s a worse overall player than the other two. It’s a hypothetical of three HOFers…. Splitting hairs
English

@HoernedupBoog @JaunJose181139 @BBGreatMoments Of course you’d take Pujols because if you didn’t everyone would know you’re a fraud, which you’re not, but you’re still blinded by your bias. Yadi was MVP level with top 4 finishes in the voting. He’s a HOF catcher and arguably the best defensive catcher of all time.
English

@HoernedupBoog @pd3244 @BBGreatMoments Molina is #1 in all of these stats. So there’s your best catcher.

English

@NuckChorris81 @pd3244 @BBGreatMoments Yes. There was interleague play his entire career. It’s the perfect opportunity to give a catcher that can hit a half day off. Happened a lot for Posey. For Contreras. Not for Yadi.
English

@HoernedupBoog @pd3244 @BBGreatMoments You expected him to DH in the NL a lot 🤣. And I didn’t know a guy could bat over .300 and average in the .260-.270 range and be a bum. Some of you Cubs fans are so butt hurt by Molina
English

@NuckChorris81 @pd3244 @BBGreatMoments Wrong. The bat needed to be in the lineup more frequently. Yadi DHed 5 times in his 19 year career…. They didn’t want two bums in the lineup with the backup catcher
English

@HoernedupBoog @pd3244 @BBGreatMoments If Posey or Mayer added more value as a catcher they wouldn’t have been playing at first base.
English

"Mike Brown has the roux for his gumbo. Don't go switch it up, you got the recipe."
@KendrickPerkins has an all-time analogy for the Knicks' offense 😂
English

@NuckChorris81 @pd3244 @BBGreatMoments No. Because they needed them not wearing down behind the plate.
The impact of a Posey or a Mauer behind the plate was greater than Yadi in the box.
English

@HoernedupBoog @pd3244 @BBGreatMoments Because they didnt add as much as catchers. We’re talking about catchers. Not DH, not first base. Who’s keeping points off the board and contributing offensively.
English

@rwhite177 @JaunJose181139 @BBGreatMoments If it was Pujols with two other first baseman, I’d probably pick Pujols. Yadi simply was not as good as the other two guys. I’ll take the MVP level, thanks.
English

@HoernedupBoog @JaunJose181139 @BBGreatMoments This is just your Cubs bias showing through. Try being objective and even more important, show us the numbers because the hitting difference isn’t is large as your opinions indicate.
English

@NuckChorris81 @pd3244 @BBGreatMoments The ceiling is completely different when talking the three. Mauer and Posey were MVPs behind the plate.
They moved around because their bat being in the lineup was important, not so much for Molina.
English

@HoernedupBoog @pd3244 @BBGreatMoments I’ll take the guy who played the position. You’re talking about guys who spent a lot of time at first base. They weren’t as durable, not as good defensively and you make it seems like Molina sucked batting. He was a silver slugger. And kept a ton of runs off the board defensively
English

@SR_TheInscriber @BBGreatMoments I’ll take the best player from a dynasty, enjoy the loss with Yadi.
English

@HoernedupBoog @BBGreatMoments Wrong
The easiest cut is Buster Pansy the destroyer of the catcher position since he was so fucking soft
English

Dalton should get at least one ball in the earhole per series
Underdog MLB@UnderdogMLB
Nico Hoerner after Dalton Rushing called Miguel Amaya a "fat fu*k," via @SpiegsAndHolmes : "I wish that I had confronted him ... I was pretty taken aback."
English

@SwiiFFtAyala @BBGreatMoments Mauer had the greatest peak of them all. That’s why he is the start.
English

@HoernedupBoog @BBGreatMoments Start posey. Bench yadi. Cut Mauer is the correct answer
We’re acting like yadi was a bum he’s a career 277 hitter and that’s taking into account his final 5 years hitting less than 270 each year into age 40 as a catcher not a 1b/DH like Mauer did at age 29
English

@joseph_palasky @BBGreatMoments Two of the three catchers in that graphic could hit very well, one could not. That’s you
GIF
English

@HoernedupBoog @BBGreatMoments Might as well call that “C” for chromosome. You obviously have an extra one.
English

@247HockeyTalk @BBGreatMoments Ozzie smith was the best defensive SS and I wouldn’t take him either. Same with arguably Brooks Robinson at third. There’s more to the game than defense.
Mauer and Posey were better players.
English

@HoernedupBoog @BBGreatMoments Best defensive catcher in MLB history lol. Stay jealous lil bro
English

@SwiiFFtAyala @BBGreatMoments Yes. Because peak Mauer is head and shoulders better. And that’s why I would take Buster Posey, the best position player on a 3x World Series team on the bench. Both were better and that’s ok.
English

@HoernedupBoog @BBGreatMoments So you’d take a guy who was a catcher for 6 years over a dude with 3 rings and regarded as the greatest defensive catcher of all time? That’s incredible
English
