Today is Essex Budget Day and there have been some amazing announcements but the one I’m most proud of is this… Against a backdrop of reduced central government funding. Against a backdrop of increased Employers’ National Insurance Contributions Against a backdrop of increased business rates Against a backdrop of hikes up on minimum wage. We haven’t had to raise council tax by 9% like Reform did in Worcestershire We haven’t had to eat into our reserves unsustainably like Reform has in Kent We aren’t taking the easy option of just taxing more like Labour do at every budget. Council Tax will rise by just 3.95% - taking just what we need and protecting vital services.

I am running to be the Non-Metropolitan District Council Representative on the CCA board. I would like to continue to support the good work @john_cope & the CCA team are doing to improve & broaden the range of support Conservative councillors & candidates receive countrywide.

NEW Robert Jenrick sacked by shadow Chief Whip Rebecca Harris over the phone. He denied claims he was jumping ship to Reform UK, and then "slammed the phone down", according to Tory sources. The Conservatives say they found "overwhelming" evidence he was about to jump ship to Reform at a moment to "cause maximum damage" to the party. More at @GBNEWS.

I have sacked Robert Jenrick from the Shadow Cabinet, removed the whip and suspended his party membership with immediate effect. I was presented with clear, irrefutable evidence that he was plotting in secret to defect in a way designed to be as damaging as possible to his Shadow Cabinet colleagues and the wider Conservative Party. The British public are tired of political psychodrama and so am I. They saw too much of it in the last government, they’re seeing too much of it in THIS government. I will not repeat those mistakes.

One of the highlights of my ten years as a local councillor. Delighted the new state of the art Epping Leisure Centre is now open. After years of campaigning, it’s fantastic to see it already buzzing and benefiting our community. 🏊‍♀️🏋️‍♂️

As part of the Members’ Highways Initiative, our crews have been hard at work in Springfield, Epping. ✔️ Multiple damaged drain surrounds have been repaired ✔️ Sections of broken road surface have been resurfaced Thank you for your patience while the works were carried out.

2025 wasn’t the easiest year, with its share of challenges and loss. But it also brought many happy moments, achievements, and the best December to end the year. Looking ahead to brighter days & a brilliant 2026! 💍🥂🎉 Wishing everyone a happy, healthy & prosperous New Year.
