The earth has now reached a population of over 8 billion people. More than 1.6 billion people live in informal settlements. This is equal to 20% of our global population. Together we can build a future where everyone has a safe and decent place to call home. #HomeEquals

From pilot to policy: @Habitat_Arg identified barriers keeping families from formal rentals, built a model project proving social rental works, and influenced Argentina's first public social rental program. $1.1M mobilized. Proof that testing solutions drives change.

Transforming heat vulnerable areas into resilient public spaces, @habitat_egypt is integrating climate adaptive solutions into informal settlement upgrading through people led approaches and high-level policy engagement, with a goal of benefiting 5M+ Cairo residents

Through #HomeEquals @HabitatCambodia empowered communities to lead their own planning while advocating for land tenure and basic services. By engaging government partners, they unlocked $3M in infrastructure investments and secured land and housing for 136 families.

When communities, government, and civil society unite, policy change follows. @Habitat4uganda formed a Parliamentary Forum on Housing, convened 250+ stakeholders, and trained 128 community leaders to push for government funding for low-cost housing in informal settlements.

Through #HomeEquals advocacy, @habitat_bolivia advocated for a law that will finance water & sanitation projects potentially impacting 2M+ residents and protect vital watersheds in Cochabamba. Learn more: habitatbolivia.org/proyecto-yaku/

Through #HomeEquals advocacy, @HFHMalawi ensured housing was added to Malawi’s climate finance mechanism, unlocking resources for climate-resilient homes and safer communities. 🏠🌍

#HomeEquals continues to amplify local voices while connecting them to a broader global movement, all reinforcing a shared message: adequate housing in informal settlements must be prioritized, and change is possible. 🌍🏘️

Adequate and affordable housing is a proven driver of climate resilience and development, yet less than 1% of development finance goes to housing. By centering housing in its #G7 agenda, France can help strengthen resilience and reduce inequality.

Habitat for Humanity International welcomes France’s @G7 2026 priorities and supports the focus on development finance reform, climate action, and countries facing fragility. We urge the G7 to recognize that adequate and affordable housing is essential to achieving these goals.
