It is deeply disappointing that some former and current officials failed to bring a constructive agenda to the dialogue table, resorting instead to insults—even during this holy month. On constitutional reform and electoral processes, Somalia needs serious proposals, not political noise. Let’s prioritize national interest: finalize the Constitution and deliver credible one-person, one-vote elections. #Somalia

Today, I met with @WFPSomalia Country Representative Mr. Hameed Nuru, alongside DG @Moshireh, to strengthen our partnership as Somalia faces worsening drought following failed rains. We agreed to scale up life-saving support, align #NTP2025_2029 with WFP’s 2026–2030 Country Strategic Plan, and deepen coordinated action to protect lives, livelihoods, and national resilience.

Today, together with the Minister of Finance H.E. @BihiEgeh and Ms. Myriam Ferran, Deputy Director-General at @EU_Partnerships, we officially launched €102M in EU investment for Somalia under #GlobalGateway, supporting four programmes on state-building and stability, quality education, migration management, and inclusive economic growth—fully aligned with the National Transformation Plan (#NTP2025_2029). We thank the European Union for its continued partnership and support to Somalia. 🇸🇴🇪🇺

Today, I chaired @MoPIED_Somalia’s Senior Leadership Meeting to review 2026 annual workplan priorities and accelerate implementation of the National Transformation Plan (#NTP2025_2029). We discussed strengthening M&E and results-based reporting to enhance accountability and development impact, deepening engagement with development partners, and improving staff performance and accountability to advance Somalia’s national development priorities.

I held a constructive meeting with Dr. Mary Otieno (@otienoma), UNFPA Country Representative a.i., to strengthen collaboration with @UNFPA_SOMALIA in #planning, #coordination, and #monitoring & #evaluation. We reaffirmed our commitment to aligning efforts with #Somalia’s #NationalTransformationPlan and the UNFPA Country Programme Document for greater impact.

Last night, we celebrated our team at @MoPIED_Somalia’s Best Performing Staff Awards 2025. The event recognised outstanding employees with certificates of appreciation, encouraging continued excellence and boosting the ministry’s efficiency, quality, and productivity for years to come.

Somalia has taken a decisive step to safeguard its sovereignty by annulling all agreements with the UAE related to security, defence, and port operations. The decision reaffirms our territorial unity and constitutional authority, alongside the approval of a new law that blocks unauthorised foreign deals by sub-national or private entities. One nation. One government. One sovereign decision.

The world has spoken loud and clear, showing solidarity and support for the unity and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. Last night’s #UN Security Council session reaffirmed Somalia’s sovereignty and firmly rejected Netanyahu’s hostile actions against the Somali people. The statement by the Prime Minister of Israel recognizing one region of the Federal Republic of Somalia has no impact on Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, or territorial integrity. It does not change our borders. It does not weaken our statehood. Somalia remains one indivisible nation, united by a shared identity and common values. I call on the small, interest-driven group attempting to divide our people to cease their actions while there is still time. Fragmentation serves no legitimate purpose. It offers no benefit and leads only to reputational damage and an uncertain future.

I extend my sincere congratulations and appreciation to the National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, particularly its Chairperson, Mr Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan, for successfully delivering a highly complex technical process in less than one year. The Commission demonstrated strong leadership, professionalism, and institutional maturity in administering the Banadir Regional Council elections in a transparent, orderly, and accountable manner, setting a clear benchmark for electoral governance in Somalia.

Today, I exercised my civic right by casting my vote in Waaberi District, Banadir Region, a historic moment for Mogadishu and for Somalia. The local council elections signal a decisive break from the past and a bold step toward one-person, one-vote democracy, restoring power to the people and opening a new chapter in our nation’s future.

I am proud to officially announce that I will be among the eligible voters of Mogadishu after collecting my voter card from the Waaberi district, where I will cast my vote. As the upcoming local government elections in the Banadir region are scheduled for December 25, 2025, the energy at the registration centre was palpable. After more than 50 years, Mogadishu is reclaiming its voice, and our collective participation is what drives real, lasting democratic change.

It was a great pleasure to host the Somali CEOs and Foreign Investors Roundtable in Mogadishu, bringing together over 100 CEOs, investors, government officials, and diplomats to promote meaningful dialogue, deepen private-sector awareness of priority economic sectors, accelerate the National Transformation Plan—a private-sector-led growth blueprint—and strengthen a high-value network for ongoing partnerships. Somalia’s growing ability to attract substantial FDI in recent years reflects an improving investment climate driven by early reforms. We will continue to advance these reforms, and I call on private-sector leaders, business executives, and international investors to work closely with @MoPIED_Somalia to fully implement the National Transformation Plan and realise our shared development goals.

Today, we convened the National Development Council (NDC) Meeting in Mogadishu, focused on accelerating the National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025–2029), strengthening federal–state cooperation, coordinating drought response efforts, and advancing a unified national planning system. We also reviewed the End-Term Evaluation of NDP9 (2020–2024) and received progress updates from the Federal Member States outlining key achievements and priorities for the year ahead. We reaffirmed our commitment to delivering a unified, sustainable, and people-centred development agenda for Somalia.

Today, I chaired a high-level meeting with @SoDMA_Somalia to fast-track and strengthen the national drought response. SODMA shared an updated briefing on the situation, and we agreed on urgent actions to support the hardest hit communities. The drought continues to affect thousands of families across Somalia. As the lead ministry, @MoPIED_Somalia is enhancing coordination to ensure a timely and unified humanitarian response. I call on Somali scholars, business leaders, civil society, and our diaspora to stand together and support affected families during this challenging period. This is a moment that requires shared responsibility. I appreciate the continued collaboration between @MoPIED_Somalia and @SoDMA_Somalia in advancing a unified national response.
