As the next phase of my journey on assignment for @NWS_Network begins, and my time here in Diyarbakir ends, I’ve decided sharing my photographic love letter to the color blue from Diyarbakir, Turkey.
Wish me luck on this next set of travel everyone. I’m going to need it!
Iranian Kurdish Peshmerga fighters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) at a base in the mountains near the Iran–Iraq border. KDPI fighters attend a session combining political education and weapons training, preparing themselves for potential developments inside Iran.
Waiting for forward movement on the next leg of my trip for @NWS_Network.
In the meantime, I’m exploring Diyarbakir, Turkey.
The call to prayer of the Diyarbakir Grand Mosque, blue candied almonds and the smell of spices are all a feast for the senses.
Golestan Palace was built in 1388. It survived the Mongols, the Afghans, and eight years of war with Iraq. On day two of this war, its Hall of Mirrors became a carpet of glass.
In Isfahan, a bomb cracked a 17th-century fresco that recorded the moment a defeated Mughal emperor was given shelter by a Persian shah. That painting belonged to both civilisations.
Across the country, over 120 museums, palaces, mosques, and prehistoric sites have been damaged in 33 days. This was despite UNESCO sharing the coordinates of every one of them before the first strike.

Blue Ridge Hotshots have also been ordered for the incident bringing the total to 5 Hotshot crews.
This incident ate up a lot of resources quick, and acres too. Estimated at 5,000+ acres and wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more than that.
Expect a heavy aviation show today as well. Fire weather is expected into next week.

Kittens, coyotes and foxes — oh my!!!
@sw_wildlife tells me these guys were found behind a shed in a Phoenix yard. A Good Samaritan thought they were kittens and passed them along to @azhumane — who thought they were coyote pups…
For more on these cute kits visit @abc15!
Just now: Arizona State pro-Palestine protester tries to yank Israeli flag off counter-protester's shoulders. He grabs her arms before eventually letting her go.
"This is not free speech, this is physically attacking students and nobody's doing anything about it," he says.
A little late - but some footage I shot at the ASU pro-Palestinian protest for @abc15. You can see a very tense exchange between a pro-Israel and pro-Palestine protestor.
Thanks @RLJnews for posting my footage!
The three people who were unaccounted for were found at the site of the downtown Davenport partially collapsed building, according to Police Chief Bladel. kwqc.com/2023/06/05/liv…
The fact that they just found another person in the building, yet they are ready to demolish it tomorrow morning, is absolutely terrifying! My heart is hurting for my hometown. @cityofdavenport needs to be held accountable.
@ABC@NBCNews@CBSNews
There are live animals still trapped in this building, and multiple families are saying they haven’t heard from their relatives that lived here, yet the city has scheduled for the demolition of the building first thing in the morning.
