BREAKING: Iran has rejected Trump’s latest remarks on the Strait of Hormuz after he said, “The Strait is going to be open to everybody… nobody’s going to control it.”
A source close to Iran’s Ghalibaf said Tehran maintains “full sovereign control” over the Strait and intends to preserve its nuclear materials “as a guarantee of the other party’s compliance” under any future agreement.
Trump also said he would not lift sanctions, release Iranian funds, or finalize a deal unless Iran joins the Abraham Accords.

CONTEXT: During a Cabinet meeting Q&A at the White House, Trump was asked, “Would you accept a short-term deal that allows Iran and Oman to control the strait [of Hormuz]? And would they have to open it immediately, or would you be open to that happening over a period of time?”
“No, the strait’s gotta be open to everybody — it’s international waters. Nobody’s gonna control it, we’re gonna watch over it. We’ll watch over it, but nobody’s gonna control it. That’s part of the negotiation that we have. They would like to control it, nobody’s gonna control it. It’s international waters,” replied the president. “And Oman will behave just like everybody else, or we’ll have to blow ’em up. They understand that. They’ll be fine.”

NEW: According to US intelligence cited by The New York Times, Iran has regained access to approximately 90% of its underground missile facilities as of mid-May—meaning 30 of the 33 known missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz are now either partially or fully operational, with the remaining sites also having regained some degree of access.
Satellite data shows that all five entrances to the underground missile base in Larestan (Fars province) have been completely cleared by Iranian engineering units using bulldozers and heavy trucks . The same imagery confirms that at the Abyaka base—reportedly Iran's largest underground missile site—four of five main entrances are fully cleared, with the fifth undergoing active restoration.
